Women in Greek Myths:Nymphs

Echo is probably the most famous of all the nymphs.

Nymphs
are all women
nymphs are spirits often personifying nature
they also show up from time to time as the wives of heroes and (often spurned) lovers of gods

When they aren't inhabiting some specific part of nature, they are often the attendents of more important deities.

She was very connected to the tree in which she lived, and very powerful if angered.
