Windows XP SP3: solution's to problems it creates

Many of the Internet connection problems following the SP3 upgrade
have been associated with the firewall and security programs, and in
particular Zone Alarm and Norton products.
look at the workarounds suggested by Zone Labs
(http://tinyurl.com/6ceewk), which are basically to reset the security level
to 'Medium' or uninstall SP3. Norton users suffering SP3 problems should see
this support article.
However, the best strategy
is to download SP3 onto your PC's
hard drive, but before you install it, disconnect the computer from the
Internet, disable your antivirus program and firewall. Once that's done go
ahead and install SP3 and afterwards reboot.
